Under general supervision, performs day-to-day operation, maintenance and customer service at Vasona Lake Boat House and Dock.

 

 

NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY-MUST BE AT LEAST 16 YEARS OLD AT TIME OF HIRE

Vasona Boating is open Juneteenth and Independence Day

Classified Salary : $16.74 per hour

Boat Launch: Mid-march

The Vasona Boat Dock is opened weekends April through June 8 and seven (7) days a week beginning June 09, 2025

Operating Hours:  10:00am through 6:00pm

Flexible Schedule.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes the following but no limited to:

  • Assist in set-up and break-down of rental equipment
  • Assist customers with rental agreements
  • Provide safe boating instruction and general information
  • Assist patrons on and off rental boats in a safe manner
  • Monitor dock area
  • Distribute life jackets and ensure proper usage
  • Help to ensure patrons are following general rules of the lake
  • Keep the boat center clean and orderly at all times
  • Report unsafe conditions and equipment such as oars, life jackets, canoe seats, paddle boat peddles, etc. to Supervisor
  • Assist with the organization of games and daily boating activities
  • Provide first aid in case of minor injury
  • May assist with organization of games and daily boating activities
  • Other duties as assigned

 

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Boat Attendant does not have supervisory responsibilities over employees; however, they may be asked to supervise patrons.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education and/or Experience

No experience required.  Must be at least 16 years old at time of hire.

Language Skills

Ability to read, write and comprehend instructions and memos. Ability to write short correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to children, parents and community members and other employees of the organization.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Must have own transportation. Fingerprint and TB clearance are a condition of employment and must be obtained prior to start date.  CPR/First Aid certification and Mandated Trainings required, but may be obtained within 10 days of hire date.  IF under 18 years of age a valid work permit is required.

 

Conditions of Employment

Upon offer of a position, LGS Recreation staff must obtain fingerprint and TB clearances. Any mandatory trainings required for the position must be completed within 15 days of employment.

Must have own transportation

Computer Skills

Basic computer skills.
