Senior Recreation Leader

Under direction of the Site Supervisor 1, the Senior Recreation Leader performs a variety of activities at a community daycare facility, where he/she is responsible for the planning, coordinating and supervising recreation activities. Work requires the ability to supervise and engage children and serve as on-site manager in the absence of the Site Supervisor 1. Work requires skills and training in conducting recreation activities. Works in conjunction with the Site Supervisor 1 to develop and expand program activities to meet the needs of the community. Work is subject to regular inspection and review for conformity to established standards and methods.

Work Year:  August 15, 2024- June 6, 2025 - Summer 2025 seasonal work available as well.

$21.63 to $33.56/hour

Schedule: M, T, Th, & F: 1:30pm to 5:00pm    W: Noon to 5:00pm

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties of this position shall include the following. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed:

    Assists in the organization of games and maintains discipline at indoor and outdoor play area. 

    Observes necessary precautions to secure the safety of recreation participants and spectators and renders routine first aid in case of minor injury. 

    Conducts a diversified program of children’s activities. 

   Assists Site Supervisor 1 in providing general supervision of the various assigned activities. 

    Performs administrative duties assigned by the Site Supervisor 1. 

    Acts as a chaperone for field trips or other activities needing supervision. 

    Ensures the cleanliness of indoor and outdoor facilities. 

    Inspects all facilities, playground and equipment and recommends maintenance and repair work as necessary. 

    Develops a rapport with children and parents and provides appropriate disciplinary measures according to Agency parameters. 

    Maintains program equipment and supplies. 

    Plans and implements recreation activities. 

    Maintains professional attitude, communication and appearance. 

    Demonstrates age appropriate behavior and language. 

   Attends all mandatory trainings as assigned by Site Supervisor 1 and/or Site Supervisor 2 

    Serves as a mentor for Recreation Leaders and program participants. 

   Builds and maintains positive relations with parents, school administrators and all recreation employees. 

 

 

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists supervisor in supervising Recreation Leaders in childcare programs. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Agency’s policies and applicable laws. 

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education and/or Experience

 High school diploma / GED required plus two years of experience; OR College degree in related field with experience and/or training preferred. 

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. 

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Must have own transportation. Fingerprint and TB clearance are a condition of employment and must be obtained prior to start date.  Mandated Trainings required, but may be obtained within 15 days of hire date.

 

Schedule

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, & Fridays - 2:00pm TO 5:00pm and Wednesdays - 11:30AM TO 5:00PM
